Top ten service tips

Look after your van and it will look after you

AOR Service team have put together their most frequently answered questions to help you get to know your trailer.

  1. Dust – On long stretches of dirt road there may be a small quantity of dust present at the step of the main door and trapped about the fly screen area. However it should never intrude onto the main floor or into the trailer.
  2. Waste pump - The macerator waste pump out requires a 30amp fuse if it ever has to be replaced.
  3. Water pump - If the water pump is running on, turn on every tap including the rear external shower taps to bleed the system. Run one tank at a time, always choose the front tank first as this lightens drawbar load.
  4. Pop top – If the Pop top skirts are dusty they will stain if they rub on lifter arms. Clean with Gumption or mentholated spirits.
  5. Awning - If you position the strap on the awning drum at the centre while opening and retracting it will come away uninhibited by the awning arms.
  6. Locks - Slam shut the main door to engage all 3 locks.
  7. Toilet flush - Hold the toilet flush button for at least 10 seconds to get the water up to the toilet and to help move the waste to the black tank.
  8. Circuit breakers – both mains and inverter circuit breakers will pop to the off position when the van moves, especially on dirt or rough roads. Always check them first if you have no power.
  9. Wheel nuts - Check the wheel nuts periodically – 6 stud 150nm. 5 stud 209nm, steel wheels (160nm alloy 5 stud)
  10. Camber pins - Check the camber pins for loose nuts or breakages when off road. Check also the vertical welds on each camber pin for cracks. Early fault finding will save an expensive breakdown later.
