From humble beginnings thirteen years ago, Steve Budden began fabricating his own off-road camping trailers. For many years, Steve had hired 4x4 camper trailers and, after they were continually returned beaten and broken, the perfectionist in him set about creating 4wd camper trailers that wouldn’t be beaten by the Aussie Outback.

Steve set about engineering and designing a true off road camper trailer that was capable of handling all the 4x4 rigors from Cape to Cape and the toughest terrain in-between without breaking. From his shed out the back of his Sunshine Coast hinterland home, Steve commenced building his first off road camper trailer, and how far things have come. From a two person operation in a shed, there are 3 factories employing 90 full time staff members, the main one a 2,000 square metre manufacturing factory.

In 2011, Australian Off Road began manufacturing off road caravans with the MATRIX full height, fully off road caravan.

Central to Australian Off Road's reputation for quality is Steve's commitment to employing only trained tradesmen to construct, fit and finish each camper trailer to a quality and standard that is second to none.

Australian Off Road Campers shortened its name to Australian Off Road in 2012 to better reflect the broad range off 4x4 trailers for sale.

In June 2013, Australian Off Road will move to a new purpose-built, 5,500m2 factory and showroom in the Sunshine Coast Industrial Park in Caloundra. This will allow AOR to expand its product line even further in state-of-the-art facilities.

Steve and the team at Australian Off Road were awarded the coveted prize of "Off Road Camper of the Year 2011" by Camper Trailer Australia Magazine. This success is a reflection of the hard work and engineering skill that has gone into perfecting Australian Off Road's products over the last thirteen years.
